There are fashion illustrators, and there are fashion artists and there is Shamekh Bluwi!

He is one of the hardest working, easiest going most humble and pleasant human being you can ever meet. His work was featured on an international level, from The Insider, Huffington Post and more!

We had the pleasure of working with Shamekh on this original Christmas Card and Framed Print.

Give us a brief introduction about yourself

Shamekh AlBluwi, Architect, Visual artist, and fashion Illustrator. A Saudi, based in Jordan

When did you realize you want to become an artist/illustrator/designer?

As a kid I was obsessed with Comic books, each hero had a distinctive outfit , for me the clothes can show somehow traces of the personality, this always fascinated me and led to fashion illustration, it is a way of showing the individuality of a person through style.

If you weren’t an illustrator, what would you be?

Zoologist

In terms of your craft, which taught you more, school or life?

I believe both has the same influence, I used to think it was life, but recently I find myself applying the techniques and methods I learned at school.

How do you start working on a project?

I start by researching, which is my fav part, after the research I sketch the concept then do the artwork mainly on Photoshop using a Wacom tablet. Sometimes I like to document this process on social media so other artists can benefit from some skills I learned along the way.

Who is the most inspiring person to you?

Frida Kahlo.

What’s your favorite pastime?

I don’t have one, looking forward to the future.

Favorite food?

Burger and cheesecake.

Favorite musician?

Tori Amos.

Biggest fear?

Repeating myself.

Biggest joy?

Food.
