The youngest Arab woman to climb Mount Everest. Made in Saudi Arabia, Raha Moharrak has bashed many stereotypes associated with women in this region and set an example not only to young Arabic women but to women around the world.
You can learn more about her journey to becoming a mountaineer and public speaker anywhere on the internet as her name and photos are all over online magazines and news networks, but we chose to sit down and have a chat with her as a young woman and a true Superiorita.
Give us a brief introduction about yourself
I am always finding it difficult to do that! I'm a chameleon and a bit of layered cake. There are days when I'm very open and social and others when I would like to only sit at home and be a total introvert. I love traveling, snow and mountains but I also love the beach.
I'm a mix of everything but in the core, I'm a curious child who is hungry for life.
In details, What do you do for a living and what do you do for life?
I'm a graphic designer by study and degree, I still do some graphic design project but mountain climbing has hijacked my career. I have become a public speaker and a motivational speaker.
What I do for life, if it was up to me, I would explore the world. I would want to climb every mountain and swim in every ocean.
If you weren’t a mountaineer, what would you be?
Professional beachball player or a TV host for a travel channel.
What is your favorite time of the day?
I'm a lunch person!
Who is the most inspiring person to you?
There are so many people I look up to who are famous, from athletic figures like Serena Williams to Queen Rania to all the Good Will Ambassadors.
But a smile from a child who has nothing and who is happy is what inspires me the most.
People who have been given insignificant lives but are so content and happy regardless. Nowadays, all you see are people walking around with smiling faces and sad eyes, because they have everything they ever wanted but still not happy, they basically exist, they don't live.
Italian! I'm a cream, tomatoes kind of person. Of course the occasional guilty spoon of Nutella.
It depends on the mood! I have a wide range of tastes. From Adele to Arctic Monkeys to Angus and Julia Stone. But you'll never find me listening to Pop Music.
Not to be happy. Everyone always assumes that it would be fear of not being able to climb mountains anymore, but that is not realistic because every job has an end where you have to retire. The one thing that you cannot stop is to be happy.
I have a few, it can be something as discovering a new city, being around my friends, achieving something I've always wanted to do. Or simply sitting on the beach eating a watermelon, I'd be the happiest camper.
Favorite Yislamoo Wall Art?
